SHIREBROOK TAKE THE POINTS IN LOCAL DERBY

NCEL DIVISION ONE

CLIPSTONE WELFARE 1 SHIREBROOK TOWN 2

I wasnt going to a match tonight until someone tweeted this fixture, so arranged a lift from the wife to drop me off. On arrival was welcomed by the clippo committee and went and had a nice cuppa. With time before kick off, in came a lot of familiar faces from around the non league scene.

Just as the game was kicking off, I began chatting to Lee West from Southam and also fellow traveller Lee Vaughan from Shifnal, we was then joined by Mr Teversal Kev Newton who I continued to chat to throughout the first half.

The first half belonged to Clipstone Welfare and they would have been in front if they had done a bit better and had the ball cleared off the shirebrook goal line twice.

Just after half time, Lee West booked his tickets for the Notts Senior League Bonanza, you will see the link further down this report for the event.

The second half, the visitors must have been told to up their game, as they looked a different side being more hungry and first to the ball.

The Visitors then struck twice in a matter of two minutes in the 56th & 58th minutes and looked to command the match, but they had to survive a late fightback when Clipstone scored from a 25 yard taken free kick to reduce the arrears.

I must thank Richard Lane for the lift home
