PINXTON SIP UP THE PRIMS

Derbyshire FA Senior Cup
Round Two

PINXTON FC 4 GRAHAM ST PRIMS 2

A solid performance by Pinxton FC saw them progress in to the Third Round where they face an away tie at Ilkeston FC.

The First Half of this tie saw each team blank each other out, with very few chances between them and they went in as a result even at 0-0.

The Second Half kicked off and it was Prims who looked the better team in the opening stages and it came as no surprise whn they took the lead after 51 minutes. This seemed to spur Pinxton FC in to wake up mode and they began to create more chances, they managed to take one to make it 1-1 after 65 minutes. Pinxton FC pressed on in search of the lead and on 75 minutes did just that. Seven minutes later, we were treated to goal of the game, when the homesters increased their lead when a superb volley found the back of the net from 25 yards out. To Prims credit they battled and in the final minute, they pulled the game back to 3-2, but as Pinxton kicked off and expected the final whilstle, they found themselves in front of the Prims net for them to score with the last kick of the tie.

Pinxton FC have done a bit of work since I last visited the ground last season, with a tea bar in the top right corner of the ground and some hard standing there. They are to put in another portacabin soon and hopefully build a new stand in the future. Must say I had a cuppa at the Refreshments Cabin and I dont think I have ever had a bigger cup than here before in all my years of following Non League Football and it was only a mere 70p.

Many thanks to good friend Richard Lane for taking me in his car to the match.
