CMFL NORTH DIVISION
SHERWOOD COLLIERY 0 PHOENIX SPORTS & SOCIAL 2
Admission £2
Programme £1
Arrived at Debdale Sports Complex just before 5pm as my wife dropped me off on the way to Morrisons, about 5 minutes later arrived the Sherwood Manager Phil Kirkland and Matchday Sec Eric Sipson and the bar manager.
The clubhouse was opened and Steve from Sheffield way bought me a pint of cider then the hoppers began to arrive from all over, the programmes that was ordered were sorted and sold but there was short supply for those who hadnt ordered, so names and addresses were taken and will be sent later in the week.
At the pay enterance, Badges were beginning to be snapped up, as the crowd went in comfortably, as the game kicked off slightly late, due to traffic problems and also some away players getting lost.
The First thirty minutes saw the play go from end to end with few chances being created or midfield to forward play breaking down.
35 minutes gone and cut in by the Phoenix winger saw him beat the keeper on his inside post to put them ahead.
The Second Half saw the homesters push forward and they had several chances to get on level terms especially when the ball beat the keeper and rolled along a empty goal line before being cleared..It became it clear on 84 minutes that Sherwood would not pick up their first CMFL points when a breakaway goal saw Phoenix double their lead and there was no way back.
Richard Lane drove me home and I'd like to thank him for the £10 donation to the Blog's Charity.
