CENTRAL MIDLANDS LEAGUE CUP FINAL
CLIFTON ALL WHITES FC 1 AFC MANSFIELD 0
att: 265
Two good passing sides on display today, but it was shame they didnt play that way and a lot of the game was resorted to the high ball game. All whites began the brighter and but to be fair, chances were at a minimum in a fast paced game in lovely sunshine.
On the half hour mark, AFC Mansfield were reduced to ten men when Meeham was dismissed after a second yellow card with a late tackle. The game went on onwards to half time with neigher keeper tested. Infact both sets of fans were very vocal with good banter and plenty of singing.
The second half began a lot brighter with both sides having chances, and on the hour Clifton was awarded a penalty, but Sheppard was equal to the spot kick and did well to save well.
On 85 minutes, Dean Rick in frustration kicked the ball out the ground whilst already on a yellow card and ref Tim Walker had no choice but to produce a second red card of the afternoon, leaving The Bulls with just 9 men on the pitch.
As the match was drawing towards extra time, Clifton Sub CONNER HARDY from a extra 30 minutes saved us from a extra 30 minutes when turning and firing the ball home for last seasons losing finalists to lift the Cup this time around.
Superb sportsmanship by AFC Mansfield who did a guard of honour for Clifton All Whites when they went up to collect the trophy and medals
