Westella Have One Hand On the Title

DRONFIELD TOWN 0 WESTELLA & WILLERBY 1
ATT: 269
This really was a match that was to decide the CMFL North Championship, Dronfield win then they were Champions, though if Westella won, they had to beat Glapwell next Saturday to lift the trophy.

I'd already taken orders for 26 programmes and 45 minutes before kick off the club had sold out, but are to do a re-print and send them on to those who left their names.

Hazel organised the raffle and went round during the match and also did the headcount and at half time I was asked to draw the raffle, to which 1st prize was a bottle of Famous Grouse won by Buxton based Hopper Ian Oldfield.

The game was a tight affair with Dronfield taking the game to Westella but seemed to freeze as soon as they got towards the penalty areapart of the ground, Westella hasd a few chances and in the 24th minute, a deflected shot squeezed in and that was enough to give the visitors the vital points that they needed.

Glapwell FC are to send their strongest squad to Westella next week, which they deserve credit for, as they have struggled recently, but it is good to see them get through the season.

At the final whistle, Ian Oldfield found me out and presentedme with the bottle of Famous Grouse for my 50th on Thursday and also for what I do for the hoppers, I was really touched by this, as I have never  received anything or expected anything in the past.

So good to see so many hoppers at today match and I must make a special thankyou to Colin Picken of Scotter FC and also to Mike Hamilton for both donating £5 each towards the blogs charity for next season.
